A History of Draft Horses on the Prairies

Learn about the history and role of the draft horse on early prairie farms and industry. Local author and presenter Merlin Ford will touch on the various breeds, importing to North America, early days of travelling stallions, famous horses and breeders from this area, the increased involvement of youth and women, the draft horse today, and the uncertain future of these magnificent animals. Attendees will also have a chance to win one of Merlin’s books.

Admission is by donation.
